Seaworthy has a solution to gum, varnish, particulate, and water build-up within (distillate) fuels stored for long times. Fuels exposed to air, contaminants, and heat slowly degrade to form gums, varnish, and particulates, and to accumulate water. Fuels stored for emergency generators are especially susceptible to fuel degradation. These fuels will cause system fouling, injector failures, and poor performance just when the emergency generator is needed the most. To prevent emergency generator trips, a fuel storage control system is required to maintain the fuel in usable condition.
Our simple, low-cost, filtration system uses a proprietary organic filter to absorb the degraded insolubles from the fuel before they can deposit and cause problems. The filter and pump are skid-mounted to apply sidestream filtration for the stored fuel. This fuel storage control system does not interfere with the operation of the emergency generator, since our system draws fuel from the storage tank, removes contaminants, and returns clean fuel back to the storage tank. If multiple tanks exist, our system can be moved from tank to tank to service all tanks. The Seaworthy system is designed to run continuously to maintain stored fuel in top condition.
